The exhibition is promoted by the C.A.I. (Italian Alpine Club), Sondrio Division, in association with Credito Valtellinese and is meant to present Paolo Punzo's pictorial works. Paolo Punzo (1906-1979) has been working uninterruptedly in the province of Sondrio for half a century. Inspired by the most typical aspects of the alpine landscape, he used to paint suggestive spots in the Alps of Valtellina and Valchiavenna such as peaks, glaciers, lakes and pasture lands.
Being based on one theme only, the exhibition includes just a few works that have not been inspired by the mountain landscape.
About 150 oil paintings, which have been meticulously selected by the C.A.I. of Sondrio, will be exhibited at the gallery in Palazzo Sertoli and at the Palazzo della Provincia. In this way, people who have always been fond of our mountains will be able to discover the charm of Punzo's painting.
The brochure includes a lot of the exhibits, as well as a critical essay focusing on Paolo Punzo's artistic talent, which is particularly evident in the works he painted between the First World War and the Second World War
