Periscopio 2002, the exhibition organised by the Assessorato alla Cultura della Provincia di Milano (Milan city council for cultural activities) under the supervision of art reviewers Angela Madesani, Paolo Campiglio and Francesco Tedeschi, will open in October in Milan. This year, the event will be hosted at the Credito Valtellinese gallery inside Palazzo delle Stelline and at Milano Posteria in Via Sacchi
Already organised in 1997, 1998 and 2000, the exhibition offers a rich overview of contemporary art, including paintings, photographs and videos by young artists who were born after 1965.
Unlike the previous exhibitions, "Periscopio 2002" is being organised under the supervision of a panel, whose authoritative members ( i.e. contemporary art reviewers Martina Corgnati, Vittorio Fagone and Luciano Fabro) are choosing the five best works to be presented along with the best works of the past years in the exhibition SELEZIONE DI "PERISCOPIO" 1997-2002. The event is expected for the period from November 9 to December 15, 2002 at the Palazzo Leone Da Perego, in Corso Magenta 13, in Legnano (phone: 0331-471335).
Periscopio 2002 is accompanied by a catalogue - published by Mazzotta - with images of the works, texts about the authors and contributions by Madesani, Campiglio and Tedeschi focusing on various aspects of contemporary art: poetry, culture, society.
When mounting this exhibition, Angela Madesani, Paolo Campiglio and Francesco Tedeschi have tried to choose young talented artists with features representing the most interesting current trends.
All of the works on display have been chosen considering first of all their quality. Along with video-making and photography, there are also traditional works.
Periscopio 2002 is hosting much more foreign artists than the previous exhibitions. In Milan, in fact, there are schools of art, such as the Academy of Brera, where students and artists from all around the world can go to learn and work.
