Credito Valtellinese Group Gallery program for 2001 starts with a retrospective exhibition of the American author Minor White (Minneapolis, 1908 - Boston, 1976). It is the first Minor White exhibition mounted in Italy in association with Modena Civic Gallery and Salzburg Rupertinum Museum. The important event has been organised in association with Princeton University Art Museum, where Estate Minor White is kept, Ottawa National Gallery, Minneapolis Art Institute, New York Howard Greenberg Gallery and thanks to Harry Drake, who owns the greatest private collection of Minor White's works and has also been the promoter of the magazine Aperture. The exhibition, which was hosted in several American museums in 1990-91, has been sponsored by Princeton University Art Museum. White himself had mounted an exhibition of his own works a few years before he died. The exhibition "Life is like a cinema of stills" has been organised by Filippo Maggia, who is entrusted with the supervision of all photo exhibitions hosted at Modena Civic Gallery, with the co-operation of Peter Bunnel Mc Alpin, a professor of History of the Photography and Modern Art at Princeton University. The exhibition, which was already hosted in Europe at Salzburg Rupertinum Museum from October 19 until December 3 2000, will be hosted at Credito Valtellinese Group Gallery in Milan from January 19 until February 2001 and then at Palazzo Santa Margherita in Modena from March 24 until May 20 2001. A brochure published by Baldini & Castoldi with the 124 pictures exhibited at the gallery is available in Italian, English and German.

The most important works that are also the most representative of Minor White's art are three series of pictures, which were never exhibited in their original version before: Song without words (which includes 14 pictures), Sequence 4 (which includes 12 pictures, and not 10 as it is written in the volume Mirrors, messages, manifestations) and Sequence 17 (Minor White's original version, which is different from the one published in Mirrors, messages, manifestations even if both include 25 pictures). In addition to the above-mentioned works, there are 73 more photographs taken by the great American photographer who made photography an instrument for expressing his feelings and emotions, which he used to identify with nature.
