The Fnac Collection
Photography, half historical and half poetic

About 400 photographs will be exhibited in Milan from March 21st to May 5th. The exhibition will be hosted at the Credito Valtellinese Gallery, the Centre Culturel Français Gallery and the Fnac Gallery.

The photographs are part of the Fnac Collection, which includes more than one thousand original prints acquired from exhibitions that the Fnac has been mounting and hosting in its circuit of art galleries over the last thirty years.

Part of a calendar that is always offering a wide and much varied range of events, the Fnac collection - which is steadily being enriched with new pieces - takes a peculiar look at contemporary photography.

From the monographs of great photographers such as Man Ray, Brassaï, Berenice Abbott, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Willy Ronis, through the current trends in the works by Raymond Depardon, William Klein, Max Pam, Nick Waplington, including also the beginners Michael Ackerman, Francesco Jodice, Klavdij Sluban…

Since it was founded in Paris in 1954, the Fnac has always been playing a great cultural role in organising meetings with artists, authors and the great public. So, it has considerably helped photography spread in France.

Each of the Fnac stores has a stand for the presentation of exhibitions, that's why the Fnac is also regarded as a unique place where the public and the photographers can meet and exchange ideas.

With 83 galleries in Europe, Brazil and Taiwan, the Fnac is really the only place of its kind in the world.

A book called La fotografia tra storia e poesia published by Mazzotta with texts by Giovanna Calvenzi, Laura Serani and Dominique Stella is also presented in this exhibition, which has been mounted by Laura Serani (Fnac photo galleries Director) and Dominique Stella.
