Palermo, 10 August 2005 - An award ceremony was held on 29 July at the Palermo headquarters of Credito Siciliano for the scholarship "Un anno all'estero" ("A Year Abroad"), established by the Credito Valtellinese group in collaboration with Intercultura, an association founded in 1955 which is a partner of the world's most important international organisations for intercultural exchange: AFS Intercultural Programs in New York and EFIL in Brussels. |

The scholarship, now in its eleventh year, is reserved for young people between 14 and 16 who use one of the following products: cart@perta teen, Bankaperta Junior account, Banca Sport account, Armonia Teen account at one of the banks in the group; it foresees study abroad for the 2005/2006 school year in a foreign country chosen from among a series of destinations in Europe and in the rest of the world, with attendance at a local secondary school. The initiative was unveiled last September, with publication of the entry rules in "Pleiadi" magazine, announcements in the local media, a special section on the group's website, and presentation in the schools by Intercultura staff. The selection phase led to the choice of Erica Faraone of Casteltermini (Agrigento), a sixteen-year-old student at Istituto Madre Teresa di Calcutta in Casteltermini, who will be spending a year in Sweden. Erica received the award from Renato Merlino, Deputy General Manager of Credito Siciliano, who congratulated the young student on behalf of the Credito Valtellinese group and wished her all the best for her future. Considering the initiative's success, demonstrated yet again by the brilliant results achieved by winners of previous years and the interest shown by young people, Credito Valtellinese Group intends to organise a similar project next year; in this case as well, the destination will be chosen from those available in Europe and in the rest of the world at the time the scholarship is awarded. |
